Wow, I can’t even believe how long it’s been since I last posted here.
I haven’t been knitting that much…but I did finish my socks!
(CO 40 sts on US2 needles. 3×1 rib all the way. Classic heel flap/gusset construction. All from handspun…this used to be a ball of fluff, folks, and now it’s socks!)
Really, these are so comfy, I’m a little disappointed that it’s going to be 80 degrees today. Just a little, though.
As I was finishing these I got to thinking about kitchener stitch…why do people disdain it so?? It’s so simple, and the result is so cool. Maybe I like it and don’t find it hard because I had such a good teacher? I admit that the first description I ever read skeeered me. But, as with most other knitting skills, Amy made it seem so simple.
How do y’all feel about grafting?

I love Kitchener. I used to be fairly afraid of it, but now that I have the hang of (still have to look up how to start though), it’s fabulous.
I love the sockies, Julie! How many oz of roving did they start out as?

Thanks 😀 …I started with 3.5 oz. of merino, then added about 1.5 oz. of cormo because I decided I wanted a 3-ply but was afraid that I wouldn’t have enough yardage with just the merino. They’re a bit on the heavy side, but not as thick as I feared they would be…perfect for my birks!

Your socks looks so comfy. 🙂
Ditto to the kitchener stitch with Amy. When I first read about a kitchener stitch, I was scared, too. After I saw Amy’s video and did my first Kitchener, I was in awe of how simple it is. I could hardly believe it was anything I’d ever feared. It’s just about as simple as binding off!

Aahhh! The socks I met when I met you at The Yarn Harlot event! It was so nice to finally be able to put a face with the life I read about!
And personally, I love grafting!
